Production Method (3) Filament Winding

More About Composites (3) Production Method - Filament Winding

Filament Winding

info-1-1

under the condition of controlling tension and predetermined line shape, the continuous fiber or cloth tape is dipped into resin glue solution by special winding equipment

wound on the core mold or inner liner continuously, evenly and regularly

solidified under a certain temperature environment

A) Wet winding: the process of winding the roving directly onto the mandrel after dipping.

Features: no need of pre impregnation equipment, less equipment investment; easy material selection; strict control of yarn quality and tension, easy to produce bubbles during curing.

B) Dry winding: a molding process in which the prepreg tape (or prepreg cloth) is heated to a viscous flow state on the winding machine and wound on the mandrel

Features: stable product quality (glue content, size, etc.); fast winding speed (100-200m / min); good labor and health conditions; large investment in prepreg equipment. At present, the former is widely used.

Advantages and disadvantages of winding process

advantage

Rapid process

High degree of automation

The resin content can be controlled

Reduce fiber waste

High fiber content and high structural properties

Shortcomings

The axial reinforcement of the product is difficult

expensive core molds and equipment

The shape of the product is limited by the process
