The production and advantages of carbon fiber sheets

For some people, carbon fiber composite materials may be unfamiliar. Carbon fiber composite materials refer to the incorporation of carbon fiber as a reinforcing material into resins or metals, forming composite materials. Leveraging its excellent properties, carbon fiber has been processed into a series of products, with the most common being carbon fiber sheets. In this article, we will learn about the production process of carbon fiber sheets.

Firstly, we need to determine the thickness of the carbon fiber sheet according to the customer's requirements.

Based on the determined thickness, calculate the number of layers of carbon fiber required.

Then, layer the carbon fiber in the order of 0°, 45°, 90°, -45°.

The final step is the molding process, which is also the most crucial step. This step includes several sub-steps: cleaning the mold, applying mold release agent, material preparation, layering, placing into the mold, cooling, demolding, post-processing. During the molding process, special attention should be paid to temperature, pressure, and time.

Carbon fiber sheets are high-strength structural components with a tensile strength over 10 times that of ordinary steel. The tensile strength reflects the material's resistance to fracture, so carbon fiber sheets can withstand high tensile forces without easily breaking. Additionally, carbon fiber sheets are much lighter than other materials. The density of carbon fiber is only 1.q/cm3, which is 60% of aluminum alloy and less than one-fourth of steel. This lightweight nature contributes to achieving structural weight reduction. Carbon fiber is a non-metallic material with low electrochemical activity. It is insoluble and non-expansive in corrosive chemical media such as acids, alkalis, and salts, exhibiting excellent corrosion resistance and aging resistance, resulting in long service life.
