Why can carbon fiber be used in the construction field?

Carbon fiber rods are made by gluing multiple strands of continuous carbon fiber and thermosetting resin, and then quickly solidifying and forming them through mold backlog drawing. Compared with raw steel, carbon fiber composite rods, and cement have higher bonding strength, so they are widely used in offshore buildings, chemical plants, highway guardrails, house foundations, and bridges. At the same time, due to the high strength and rigidity of carbon fiber, the deflection of the structure prepared by carbon fiber composite rods is much higher than that of reinforced concrete materials.
Reinforced concrete is one of the most widely used building materials in the world today. The steel bars are made of steel and protected by thick concrete to prevent rust. Bridges, in particular, have been almost entirely built of reinforced concrete for decades. Rust protection is not always applicable to concrete several centimeters thick. Bridges, in particular, often need to be renovated or even updated on a large scale. Of course, this consumes a lot of raw materials and energy every time and thus produces a lot of CO2.

If the tensile strength design value of the carbon fiber plate is approximately 2000MPa and the tensile strength design value of the steel (Q235) is approximately 200MPa, then a 0.1mm thick carbon fiber plate can be equivalent to a 1mm thick steel plate. Almost no increase in the cross-section of the component, carbon fiber is light and thin, does not require large-scale construction machinery, and is easy to transport, store, and construct. For the same amount of work, the construction period of pasting carbon fiber is about 40% of that of pasting steel. Compared with steel, carbon fiber is an inert material, does not rust, is not easily corroded by harmful media, and has good durability in harsh environments.
CFRP materials are widely used in the field of reinforced concrete structure reinforcement because of their advantages such as high strength, lightweight, and corrosion resistance. Traditional external CFRP reinforcement technology is widely welcomed by the engineering community because of its simple and convenient process. However, CFRP is difficult to give full play to its high-strength material performance, and the CFRP concrete section is easy to peel off. To give full play to the high-strength performance of CFRP, prestress is applied to it in advance, so that the prestressed external CFRP technology has been developed and utilized.

Reasons to choose carbon fiber
Small amount of work
With the continuous development of building reinforcement technology, for the same reinforcement project, the reinforcement method with a large amount of construction is destined to gradually withdraw from the reinforcement stage. The carbon fiber reinforcement construction method is simple to operate and has a small amount of work, which is an efficient reinforcement construction method.
Save construction time
Compared with traditional reinforcement methods, the construction period of carbon fiber reinforcement technology is shorter, which can save the construction party valuable time. Shortening the construction period is equivalent to reducing construction costs, which can allow the construction party to earn more economic profits.
More material advantages
More material advantages
The reason why carbon fiber reinforcement has become the only choice for building reinforcement is directly related to carbon fiber materials. Structural adhesive can easily stick carbon fiber materials to the surface of the concrete contact layer. Most of the building structures in my country are now concrete structures, which increases the scope of application of this reinforcement method.
Low construction cost
The market price of carbon fiber materials is relatively low. Whether it is carbon fiber board or carbon fiber cloth, compared with other reinforcement materials, the use of carbon fiber reinforcement is the most economical reinforcement method for the entire reinforcement project.
Relatively environmentally friendly
In the process of building reinforcement, a lot of construction waste will also be generated. For this reason, more construction units now tend to choose environmentally friendly reinforcement methods when reinforcing the structure of buildings. Compared with other reinforcement methods, carbon fiber reinforcement is a relatively environmentally friendly reinforcement technology. In the process of reinforcement construction, the least construction waste is generated.
Strong durability
Many people will compare and analyze carbon fiber reinforcement technology and bonded steel reinforcement technology. They will find that carbon fiber materials are more durable and will not affect their performance even in harsh environments. However, steel plate materials are very easy to rust in corrosive environments.
