CRRC Debuts Sustainable EMU For Hangzhou Asian Games

Recently, the Fuxing Asian Games Smart EMU, developed by CRRC for the 19th Hangzhou Asian Games, officially rolled off the production line. CRRC Sifang Institute (CRRC Brake) supplied multiple systems and components for the train, including the passenger information system, coupler and buffer system, sand spreading device, carbon fiber driver's console, electrical cabinets, undercarriage power supply, opening/closing mechanisms, chargers, onboard power supply, single-phase inverters, and crossover cables, significantly enhancing the train's "smart" and "green" features.

During the Asian Games, the smart EMU will connect Hangzhou with five co-host cities - Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinhua, Shaoxing, and Huzhou - providing efficient transportation services for the event. This will facilitate convenient commuting for athletes, referees, and spectators between competition venues.

 

The Asian Games Smart EMU adopts an 8-car formation with 4 powered and 4 trailer cars (distributed-power EMU), featuring a designed speed of 350 km/h and passenger capacity of 578. It demonstrates characteristics of customization, environmental sustainability, intelligence, and comfort.

 

The carbon fiber driver's console incorporates human-centered industrial design principles and a bionic design inspired by sailfish morphology. Utilizing a new generation of high-strength carbon fiber composite materials for its main framework and load-bearing components, combined with simulation-optimized structural design, the console achieves 30% weight reduction while maintaining required strength and rigidity. The surface treatment employs high-hardness wear-resistant matte transparent coating to prevent scratches on exposed fiber textures and reduce driver visual fatigue. Environmentally friendly resins, water-based adhesives, and coatings are adopted to improve manufacturing processes, making the product more sustainable. Ergonomic simulations analyzing drivers' visual range, operational radius, legroom, and comfort have further optimized the console's structural design.
