Guangwei Composites Secures ¥658 Million Aviation Order To Expand Low-Altitude Economy Presence

As the low-altitude economy rapidly develops, increasing numbers of enterprises are expanding their presence in this sector. Guangwei Composites (300699.SZ) recently disclosed investor relations activity records detailing its development strategy for low-altitude economy and aviation applications.

Historically focused on carbon fiber for defense applications, the company now identifies aviation as its primary growth vector amid the low-altitude economy boom and accelerated mass production of civil aircraft. Guangwei's T300-grade carbon fiber and flame-retardant fiber-reinforced resin prepreg for cabin structures have been formally included in COMAC's procurement catalog, with additional products poised to enter this market.

Major Orders Signal Aviation Application Focus

The company recently announced a ¥658 million carbon fiber order whose application scenario drew significant investor attention. Guangwei clarified that products under this contract-similar to previously supplied items-fall within aviation applications and will create new growth opportunities.

This follows another major contract secured within just six months. Guangwei's June 15th filing revealed its subsidiary Weihai Extension signed a ¥658 million supplemental procurement agreement with Customer A, effective January 2025 through December 2027.

As China's carbon fiber industry leader with full industrial chain capabilities, Guangwei develops, manufactures, and sells carbon fiber and composites for aerospace, wind turbine blades, and sporting goods.

Strategic Push into Emerging Drone Sector

When asked about entering the low-altitude economy, company representatives highlighted robust carbon fiber demand in this sector. Compared to manned aircraft, drones prioritize cost efficiency. Guangwei's integrated capabilities-from raw fiber to composite parts-enable comprehensive support for low-altitude equipment.

The company has established partnerships with multiple downstream clients and will align future development with overall low-altitude economy trends. Notably, Guangwei stated via investor platforms on June 11th that it serves as a core carbon fiber supplier for domestic aero-engines, with applications expanding into emerging markets including drones and robotics.

Management believes carbon fiber composites will see expanding applications as the low-altitude economy evolves.

Trillion-Yuan Market Attracts Intense Competition

Since the 2024 inclusion of "low-altitude economy" in China's government work report, this trillion-yuan market has drawn numerous entrants. Qichacha data shows over 89,000 domestic enterprises now operate in this sector. As a pioneer in carbon fiber localization, Guangwei has achieved significant market penetration in civil aircraft and low-altitude equipment, earning recognition from multiple securities firms.

Central China Securities analyst Liu Zhi noted Guangwei stands to benefit from multiple industrial chains-including its comprehensive layout in civilian large-tow projects, civil aircraft adaptation, and low-altitude equipment compatibility-positioning it to capitalize on domestic aircraft and low-altitude economy growth.
