Jilin Carbon Valley Carbon Fiber Successfully Lists On Beijing Stock Exchange

On November 15, the Beijing Stock Exchange (BSE) officially launched, with Jilin Carbon Valley Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd. among the 81 inaugural listed companies. This marks the first BSE listing for a Jilin City-based enterprise.

Established in 2008, Jilin Carbon Valley specializes in the R&D, production, and sales of polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based carbon fiber precursors. By 2020, the company had achieved an annual precursor production capacity of 50,000 tons, establishing a product portfolio that prioritizes large-tow carbon fiber while maintaining parallel development of small-tow offerings.

Public data reveals that in the first three quarters of this year, Jilin Carbon Valley reported revenue of RMB 723 million, net profit attributable to shareholders of RMB 179 million, and a gross profit margin of 41.06%.

The listing of Jilin Carbon Valley represents only a starting point. As noted earlier, China's carbon fiber industry remains far behind Japan's in scale. Closing this gap demands more than rhetoric. The national 14th Five-Year Plan has already outlined clear development targets for domestic carbon fiber production over the next five years.

news-1-1

Under the "Carbon Peak-Carbon Neutrality" strategy, renewable energy development holds critical importance. Carbon fiber composites show substantial promise in applications such as wind turbines, solar panels, and tidal power installations.

In 2020, China produced 18,000 tons of carbon fiber, a 29% year-on-year increase. Usage breakdowns by sector were: wind power (40.9%), aerospace (3.5%), sports/leisure (29.1%), and automotive (2%). Notably, wind power alone accounted for 40% of total consumption.

Consider this: If China's annual carbon fiber capacity reached 50,000 tons instead of 18,000, it would approach half of the global 2020 production capacity (106,900 tons). Achieving this milestone would not only ensure self-sufficiency but also position China as a global leader in carbon fiber manufacturing, driving expanded industrial demand.
