On July 15, black carbon filaments were wound into spools on the production line at Jilin Chemical Fiber Group's carbonization workshop, marking the successful first trial run of the initial carbonization line in the company's 15,000-ton carbon fiber project.
On October 8, Line 7 of the 15,000-ton carbon fiber project completed its first trial run, becoming the third large-tow carbonization line launched this year by Guoxing Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Jilin Chemical Fiber.
On October 12, Line 8 of the 15,000-ton annual carbon fiber project also achieved a successful first trial run, marking Guoxing Carbon Fiber's fourth large-tow carbonization line commissioned this year. At Line 8, raw filaments transitioned through white, yellow, brown, and black hues during processing.
Since July this year, Guoxing Carbon Fiber has commissioned four large-tow production lines, elevating its annual carbon fiber production capacity to over 10,000 tons. Additionally, the adjacent Line 2 is undergoing equipment installation and is planned to become operational by year-end.
These production lines focus on "large-tow, general-purpose, high-quality" carbon fiber products, primarily targeting 50K and larger tows. With single-line capacities exceeding 2,500 tons, the output will serve applications in wind power generation, solar energy, green power infrastructure, and structural reinforcement.
The domestic carbon fiber industry is poised for significant growth over the next 5-10 years. Jilin Chemical Fiber's project marks just the beginning, with multiple large-scale carbon fiber initiatives set to follow. The coming years will witness further advancements in this critical sector.
