On March 7, Mitsubishi Chemical's official website announced the launch of a new Kyron™ ULTRA-type sheet intermediate material. This high-performance carbon fiber composite, made by impregnating carbon fibers with engineering plastics, comes in a UD unidirectional prepreg form.

Key features of the Kyron™ ULTRA carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin-based unidirectional prepreg include:
1. High performance: Utilizing the company's composite material technology, it achieves high performance as a carbon fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin prepreg.
2. High precision: It features ultra-low voids and high dimensional accuracy, making it suitable for thermoplastic AutoTapeLayup (ATL) molding technology and other general molding methods.
3. High moldability: The ultra-low voids allow for shorter production times in general press molding, and no material freezing is required.
Kyron™ ULTRA Carbon Fiber Composites leverage the anisotropic properties of UD prepreg for carbon fibers. By placing necessary prepregs in optimal positions, they significantly expand design possibilities. These composites can be applied across various fields, including aerospace, industrial, mobile, and sports, thanks to the properties of carbon fibers and thermoplastic resins.
