Recently, the Shandong Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology announced the 2025 Shandong Provincial Manufacturing Pilot Platform list, with only nine platforms selected across the province. Among them, the Shandong Carbon Fiber and Composite Materials Pilot Platform, jointly developed by Weihai Lingang New Materials Industry Development Co., Ltd., Shandong University, Shandong University Weihai Industrial Technology Research Institute, Weihai Lingang New Materials Innovation Center Co., Ltd., the National Carbon Fiber Industry Metrology and Testing Center, Weihai Tuozhan Fiber Co., Ltd., and Weihai Chenyuan Molecular New Materials Co., Ltd., was included, marking the sole entry from Weihai City.
New materials centered on carbon fiber and composites form one of the "3+2" pillar industries in Lingang District and represent the foundation and competitive edge for cultivating new quality productive forces in the region. In recent years, Lingang District has accelerated the development of a modern industrial system anchored by advanced manufacturing, while rapidly establishing high-end platforms such as shared pilot platforms and industrial incubators. The selection of the Shandong Carbon Fiber and Composite Materials Pilot Platform exemplifies the district's commitment to integrating technological innovation with industrial advancement.

By enhancing the technical value and quality of innovative achievements, it accelerates the translation of research outcomes into practical applications, drives technological innovation and industrial upgrading in carbon fiber and composites, and offers robust support for development in related fields.

Hardware Infrastructure
The pilot platform features nearly 20,000 square meters of dedicated R&D space, including three floors of laboratories in a research institute building, five specialized research facilities, and two pilot workshops, providing a solid foundation for diverse scientific projects. Equipped with 393 sets of pilot testing devices, inspection instruments, and machining equipment, the platform ensures efficient operations across the entire workflow-from raw material processing and product testing to final preparation.
Software Capabilities
The platform boasts over 150 professionals and operational teams in carbon fiber and composite materials, characterized by balanced expertise and age distribution. With deep technical backgrounds and extensive engineering experience in foundational science, process development, quality control, testing, and production validation, the team delivers full-spectrum technical support and service guarantees.
According to Wang Zhansheng, Chairman of Weihai Lingang New Materials Industry Development Co., Ltd., the platform has successfully completed over 20 national and provincial research projects, earning industry-wide recognition. Annually, it produces or processes 30 tons of carbon fiber and composite products spanning aerospace, automotive, wind energy, sports, and other sectors, meeting diverse customized demands. In market expansion, the platform has served more than 300 enterprises, including the China Automotive Technology & Research Center, Weihai Guangwei Composite Materials, and Guangzhou Sanwei Qunhe New Materials, executing 145 technology development projects and overcoming dozens of critical "bottleneck" technologies. Additionally, over 10 research achievements have been industrialized in power transmission, oilfield extraction, automotive lightweighting, and consumer applications, generating over 100 million yuan in new revenue for partner enterprises and driving collaborative innovation across industries.
