China’s First Fully Carbon Fiber High-Speed Passenger Vessel Set For Launch

To deepen the integration of water-based leisure tourism in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and accelerate the green transition of port and shipping industries, the Guangzhou Port Authority has strongly supported the construction of Pazhou Hong Kong-Macao Passenger Terminal, expediting its final approval and guiding preparatory work for operations. It is reported that "Haizhu Bay"-China's first domestically built fully carbon fiber high-speed passenger vessel-will begin service on the Pazhou-to-Hong Kong Airport route after the Lunar New Year.

The sleek "Haizhu Bay" measures 42.8 meters in length and 10.8 meters in width, with a capacity for 260 passengers. Its carbon fiber hull, manufactured using single-vacuum forming technology, achieves a design speed exceeding 37 knots (68.5 km/h) with waterjet propulsion. Compared to traditional aluminum alloy vessels, it reduces fuel consumption by over 30% while offering lighter weight, higher strength, and faster speeds.

Once operational, the vessel will provide a swift, comfortable water transport option for Guangzhou-Hong Kong exchanges in the city center, further expanding the Greater Bay Area's interconnected transportation network.
