Sinopec’s 48K Large-Tow Carbon Fiber Automated Warehouse Officially Operational

Recently, the automated three-dimensional warehouse supporting Sinopec Shanghai Petrochemical's 48K large-tow carbon fiber project has been officially put into operation. This marks the first application of advanced automated warehouse technology in a large-scale production facility by Shanghai Petrochemical. The warehouse features over 4,700 storage slots, enabling fully automated storage and retrieval of raw materials, finished products, and packaging supplies for large-tow carbon fiber production. This innovation significantly reduces manual labor and resource inputs across production stages, streamlining operational efficiency. Additionally, automated processes for product offloading, packaging, transportation, storage, data collection, and quality inspection ensure traceability while boosting production efficiency and cutting labor costs.

news-1-1

Due to pandemic-related delays in 2022, the automated warehouse was not fully completed or commissioned when the 48K large-tow carbon fiber project initially launched. To address this, the Production Department of Shanghai Petrochemical's Carbon Fiber Division collaborated with the project's technical team, the No. 2 Carbon Fiber Plant, and equipment suppliers to implement a "phased commissioning and deployment" strategy. This allowed warehouse testing and operation to proceed without disrupting the precursor and oxidation-carbonization production lines.

The automated warehouse system for the large-tow carbon fiber project has now achieved full-process integration and entered fully automated operation mode.
