Imagine a ship that glides swiftly over the water like a hydrofoil, then dives like a futuristic eco-submarine to explore ocean depths of 50 meters. This seemingly impossible dream is becoming a reality with the DeepSeakerDS2, named by iSpace2o.
The DeepSeakerDS2's cabin accommodates up to four people in a 2+2 car - style configuration. Powered by Sealence's two powerful DeepSpeed engines, it propels through the water at over 35 knots.
Thanks to its lightweight, recyclable composite body - a vacuum bagged carbon fiber hull and Plexiglas-covered hydrofoil elements - the DS2 achieves high surface speeds and resists underwater pressure when diving.
The DS2 is positively buoyant, so it won't sink. It is fully equipped with safety features: redundant critical parameter displays, sensors, electronics, an inflatable underwater seat, spare cylinders, a dive mask, peripheral airbags, and automatic emergency buoys with SOS position markers and GPS.
DeepSeakerDS2 will begin experimental testing in late 2022. After fine-tuning and DNV GL certification, it is expected to be launched by iSpace2o in 2024.
