Hyosung Develops Ultra-high-strength Carbon Fiber H3065

Korea's Hyosung has developed ultra-high-strength carbon fiber, advancing the localization of aerospace materials. On October 12, Hyosung High - Tech Materials Co., Ltd. announced the successful development of "H3065 (T - 1000 grade)" carbon fiber with a tensile strength of 6.4 GPa and a Young's modulus of over 295 GPa.

Hyosung has been producing "H2550 (T - 700 grade)" carbon fiber, which is more than 10 times stronger than steel and is used in hydrogen fuel tanks, wire core materials, solar insulation materials and sports. In contrast, the new "H3065" carbon fiber is an ultra-high strength specialty carbon fiber that is more than 14 times stronger than steel. The T-1000 grade carbon fiber requires advanced technologies in raw material polymerization, spinning and firing, and poses great engineering challenges.
