On June 6, the official website of Japan's Toray Corporation released the latest production capacity of the company's products as of March 31, 2024.
According to the data, Toray's total global carbon fiber production capacity is about 64,000 tons. Since Toray's carbon fiber factories in South Korea, the United States and France all began to expand production in the second half of 2023 and are expected to be put into production as early as 2025, there will be no new production capacity in 2023; at the same time, Toray's high-performance resin material production capacity has reached 745,000 tons, and the company also has 20,000 tons of acrylic fiber production capacity in Japan.
Toray's carbon fiber production capacity has reached 64,000 tons, and the company said that this capacity has not yet been fully released. Toray still has room to further increase production in its future production plans. The company may gradually release this production capacity space according to changes in market demand to ensure flexibility and adaptability in market competition.
Toray is also actively exploring new areas of application for carbon fiber. With the continuous advancement of technology, the scope of application of carbon fiber is constantly expanding. In the field of renewable energy, carbon fiber is widely used in the manufacture of wind turbine blades to improve strength and durability. The application potential of carbon fiber in emerging markets such as electric vehicles and drones is also of great concern.
As of March 2024, Toray Industries, Japan's global resin production capacity totaled approximately 745,000 tons, including 497,000 tons of ABS resin, 52,000 tons of nylon resin, 86,000 tons of PBT resin, 27,600 tons of PPS resin (19,000 tons in Tokai, Japan, 8,600 tons in TAK, South Korea), 2,000 tons of liquid crystal polyester resin (Ehime, Japan) and 80,000 tons of PET resin (PNR, Indonesia).
