On August 15, the first large tow carbon fiber production line of SINOPEC Shanghai Petrochemical was delivered, marking the completion of the project equipment installation and an important step towards trial production.
Shanghai Petrochemical is the first company in China and the fourth in the world to master the technology of large tow carbon fiber production. In the first phase of the project, the four raw silk production lines of the raw silk plant of the Carbon Fiber Division and two oxidized carbonization lines of the No. 2 Carbon Fiber Plant, which have achieved full equipment localization, have been handed over.
The large tow carbon fiber project is a key initiative for new material development. When completed and put into operation, it will significantly enhance the production capacity and quality of carbon fiber, strengthen Sinopec's leadership in carbon fiber and composite technology and market, and end China's dependence on imports of large tow carbon fiber. This will greatly promote the high-quality development of China's carbon fiber industry and contribute to the transformation and upgrading of China's manufacturing sector, positioning it among the world's leading enterprises.
