After the carbon fiber plate is produced, it will have burrs, pores, and low gloss on the surface. It cannot be used in specific projects without treatment. Generally, the surface treatment methods for carbon fiber plates include grinding, polishing, and painting.

For parts with uneven appearance, burrs, and resin dividends on the carbon plate, fine sandpaper or water sandpaper can be used for grinding. Especially for the locations with pores and bubbles, polishing is performed after grinding. Polishing is divided into two methods: coarse and fine. The specific method to use depends on the level of appearance requirements. Coarse polishing only requires direct polishing with a cast iron disc, and fine polishing requires the addition of abrasives for processing. When grinding and polishing, it is necessary to process the appearance too finely. If pinholes are missed, secondary processing is required.

After forming, first polish the carbon fiber surface, sandpaper, or grinding equipment to make the surface smooth
Water cleaning, there are many carbon powder particles on the polished carbon fiber surface, which need to be washed off in water, generally using an automatic filtering circulating water system
Wipe dry, wipe the water stains on the carbon fiber surface with a dry cloth
Bake, put the dried carbon fiber products into the oven at 80 degrees for about 5 minutes to ensure that the water is completely evaporated
Spray paint on the surface, according to different surface shapes, design the walking path of the spray gun to ensure that the paint surface has texture, and spray more to cause paint flow
Spray paint generally has primer, color paint, and surface transparent paint. Spray one layer and bake once (bake at 120℃ for 15 minutes, and the last layer for more than 30 minutes)
After completion, if there are still paint particles or scratches on the surface, use a cloth wheel machine to polish the surface until it is smooth and flat

For fine polishing of carbon/carbon fiber plates, 2.5μm diamond suspension or diamond paste can be used, and 1μm alumina suspension can be used for two polishings.
The main process of polishing with diamond suspension is: first sprinkle 2.5μm diamond suspension on medium-neck woolen cloth, add emulsified lubricant, and polish for 2-3 minutes on a polishing machine with a speed of 200-250r/min until all the scratches of rough polishing are eliminated. After polishing, use water or a solution containing a detergent to clean the polished surface.

When using 1μm alumina suspension for subsequent polishing, pour the suspension evenly on the long-neck velvet cloth, and then add an appropriate amount of lubricant for polishing. Use a polishing machine with a speed of 100-150r/min to polish for 3-5 minutes. After polishing, clean the polished surface with water or a solution containing a detergent.
